"Thanks to an enthusiastic group of volunteers including several ex-NaN employees, along with donations from thousands of loyal Blender supporters, the €100,000 target was reached in seven short weeks. Blender was then freely released to the world under the terms of the GNU General Public License." http://blender.org/cms/General.196.0.html#487
He encontrado un comentario de un tal Ton [1] en el que dice textualmente "Don’t forget that we publish our movie under an open license, allowing any TV station to broadcast it freely, without the need of contacting us in advance". En otro comentario de alguien llamado Tom Musgrove [2] se dice que "Both Blender and the movie project are ‘open source’ and ‘free’ - anyone can sell/redistribute them without a a distribution license/partnership".
Copiopego: "The result of this project will be a short movie, which will be distributed under the Creative Commons license which means it will be freely available worldwide for public viewing and redistribution without royalty demands or written permission from the original copyright owners."
Copiopego: "The copyright issues surrounding this are a bit tricky, so we need to be very specific on this. Of course we’d love as many people to contribute as possible, but if you don’t comply with the right licensing requirements, we can’t use the textures. The movie itself and all the production files will be released under the most liberal Creative Commons license: Attribution 2.5..." via: http://orange.blender.org/blog/a-call-for-textures
